Utah's Best

So last week Russ and I had a chance to go back to Provo to do our Schooled Christmas party and hang out with some friends. Russ had gone up the week before to work on the January issue. I flew in on Friday night and we met up with GJ, Amelia, Tyler, Desiree, Chris and Lynsey---for a "Taylor Reunion." We started out with dinner at Macaroni Grill and then headed to a new gelato icecream store on Center Street and we hung out in the Schooled Magazine foyer catching up on old times, telling old and new jokes, and just having a good time. Afterwards, Russ and I reflected on how great it is to have such good friends, that it is so easy to just pick up where we left off. We had such a fun night! It really makes us wish we hadn't moved! :) We did the Schooled Magazine Christmas party the next day at CPK and got to catch up with all of our old Schooled friends, including Traci and Erin. Russ and I then did some errands and then moved all of our desks and office equipment to our new schooled office--just down the hall in suite 215 (instead of 214). We had a great time hanging out with Tyler and Desiree that night and they graciously let us stay at their house that weekend. We had a great a great time! Here are some pictures of us at Macaroni Grill with our best-est of best friends! :)

"Man"icures And Pedicures. Boy's Day At The Spa.

So Russ and Scott decided to get manicures and pedicures. The pictures say it all.

Jim-erina Barlow Grabs A Bag Out-Of-The-Closet

So my parents came over last night and Brian Taylor and Russ were there. We had some good laughs at a bag that Russ was having Brian transport to Seattle for us, with all of the Christmas presents in it. My dad, Jim, thought it looked very girly... so he did his impression of Brian taking it to the airport. :) We got a shot of him....and we call it "Jim-erina Barlow Grabs A Bag Out-Of-The-Closet."

Mini Ambulance Service, Call Me, Not 911!

So yesterday at work, we had an emergency. One of my friends in the Risk Department, John accidently drank a drink that had bananas in it, which is is deathly allergic to. His office-mate came running into my office and said that John is having a huge problem, come look at him and see what we should do. So Lana (my boss) and I ran over to him... and he was barely breathing and kinda throwing up, but he wasn't able to because his throat was barely open enough. We started to dial 911, but he gurgling no--no hospital. Finally, we said if we don't get you to the hospital you are going to die, so we decided to carry him out to my car, and off I went in the Mini. I decided to take the freeway to Saddleback hospital, but it was a bad choice, and there was traffic everywhere. So I decided to go down the side emergency lane--which was so cool. When the emergency lane would end for an oncoming on ramp, I would pull moves that only the mini could do---speed swerving! I ran red lights (I had to stop at the big ones), stop signs, and paid no attention to speed bumps. It was actually pretty cool, minus the fact that I was having to do it to get the poor guy to the hospital fast enough--which I did. When we got there, I ran inside and the nurse said they would be right out... a bystander came and helped me pull him out of the car and into a wheelchair, and in he went. I haven't had my adrenalin run so hard in a long time! Since John didn't want to call his family and bother them with what had just happened, I stayed with him for four hours in the hospital and then took him home afterwards. What a crazy day! The cool part is that on Sunday (the day before this happened), I was telling Russ that I all of a sudden had a bad feeling about this guy John at work. Russ said it was nothing, but behold, the next day... it was something!!!! Crazy! I really feel blessed that I was able to be there for him in his time of need. I hope we can be good friends from here out! :)

TWO Busy Days

So yesterday was our company party at National Merchant Center. I was responsible for the event and it turned out to be so much fun!!!! We had 65 people come to Fox Sports Grill at the Irvine Spectrum, and we had a pool tournament, lunch buffet, and a gift exchange. I had a lot of fun the last two weeks putting together seating charts and table decorations, making snowflake name holders, and shopping! It really came together yesterday... and it was one of the first parties I've put on (I did a lot of events with Schooled Magazine), that I wouldn't have changed one part of the whole thing. I guess it really does pay off to be prepared! I also got kudos from both of my bosses and that felt really good! After the party, I came home and took a long nap, and then wrote a talk for Sacrament meeting in church. My moto since we've moved to California has been to do one thing at a time, the most important is at the top of the list. This usually means that I "last minute" everything, but I've adjusted to this new type of planning. Anyway, the talks today went great! I was nervous for only a few minutes before, and when it was over, it felt that a huge weight had been lifted off of my sholders! :) Then just now, at 11:15pm on Sunday night, I finally finshed designing the DECEMBER issue of Schooled Magazine-- that goes to print tomorrow. The cover is really unique, and has grown on me. I know it's loud, but it's what I feel this holiday season is going to be--- REALLY LOUD!!! :) With a trip to Utah this upcoming weekend, then flying to Seattle the following week for a Christmas break, and then Kristen's wedding on December 29th, followed by a fun New Years, we'll be with a lot of friends and family! I can't wait! Well I should probably get some rest! :) Better go!

Russ at Target

Okay, so after Russ put on two video posts of me, it's my turn to get russ back with a picture.... We went to Target, and Russ HAD to try on the bee costume. Acutally, I MADE him try it on... and look how happy he looks! :) I think he should be a professional bee. What do you think? Then I made him pretend to flutter. Look at his face--he was enjoying himself! :)

Debbie finds out that monkeys are almost as smart as Russ

so on our trip to Bali I turn around for one minute and this monkey was getting more action then I was on my honeymoon. It just wasn't right.

Debbie training for the X Games

This is Debbie's training video for the 2008 Summer X Games. She comes so close to clearing the jump and then catches and edge. We'll be practicing for next year.....Oh yeah and children do not try this at home....she is a trained professional
